Outline of project |
|
 |
| Yogyakarta, located in the central Java Island,
Indonesia, is a very well known city to all over the world because
of its long history and the gigantic religious sites, Borobudor
and Pulanbanan. Yogyakarta, where the sewer network/flushing
system has been developed, has been suffered from water pollution
in the public waters because of the increase of its population
and tourists since 1980s. Therefore, in 1990, Indonesian government
requested to Japanese government to assist development of sewerage
system and support operation & maintenance after construction
of sewage treatment plant. |
 |
| After receiving Indonesia's request, Japanese
government made efforts to assist both Indonesian national government
and Yogyakarta city by sending JICA Experts; Grant Aid (Construction
of sewage treatment plant and main sewer pipes); conducting
technical seminars, etc.. |
